Komal Agarwal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi. She obtained her doctorate from the Center for English Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2019. Her doctoral thesis was entitled The Shifting Paradigm of Dharma: A Study of Select Modern Retellings of the Mahabharata. She teaches Indian Classical Literature, British Romantic Literature, Academic Writing and Creative Writing. She is also an environment enthusiast and a faculty member of Harithkram, the environment society of her College. She has published in international journals and encyclopedias; her research and areas of interest centre around the epic and popular versions of the Mahabharata, Indian classical literature and aesthetics, folk and popular cultures in India, gender studies and translation studies. Her English translations of ten poems of the Hindi poet Anamika have recently been published in the anthology of English translations of Anamika's poetry, My Typewriter is My Piano: Selected Poems Translated from Hindi, Ed. Sudeep Sen, London: Aark Arts, 2020; her translations from Hindi into English for The Encyclopedia of Indian Poetics, a UNESCO-Sahitya Akademi Project, are forthcoming.
