Marie Mianowski

Marie Mianowski is professor of Irish Studies and anglophone literature at the University Grenoble Alpes, France. Among others, she is the author of a monograph entitled Post Celtic Tiger Landscapes in Irish Fiction (Routledge 2017), including a chapter on Anne Enright's Forgotten Waltz: 'From Lust to Bust: the Space of Desire in The Forgotten Waltz by Anne Enright' (pp.45-59). She had previously published a paper on Anne Enright's The Gathering: 'Time and Sense in Anne Enright's The Gathering'. In Ecrivaines Irlandaises. Bertrand Cardin & Mikowski Sylvie, eds. She has been teaching translation (literary and other) at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for more than two decades at the University of Nantes and University Grenoble Alpes, and worked for four years as a translator for L'Ecole des Loisirs (children's literature). She has published the translations of two plays: Fairytale Heart by Philip Ridley (Ecole des Loisirs, 2000), performed at Les Déchargeurs by the Compagnie Bewitched (directed by Gaspard Legendre in 2014; to be performed again in 2021-2022); and My Favourite Summer by Nick Lane, directed by Gaspard Legendre (Mon Eté préféré, Les Editions du Net, 2015) and performed at the Théâtre de la Jonquière, Paris, 2015. She is also taking part in the collective translation of a play on Mary Stuart's last hours: The Lifeblood (by Glynn Maxwell, 2008), a project led by Estelle Rivier (ILCEA4, UGA) and working on two translation projects at the moment.
