Haruko Takakuwa (MA, PhD) is Associate Professor of English at Ochanomizu University, Japan. Her main interests are in early-nineteenth-century domestic novels and national tales. She has published various articles on Maria Edgeworth, Sydney Owenson, Susan Ferrier, and Jane Austen in English and Japanese. She is also interested in adaptation studies and “Pride and Prejudice as Angels’ Ladder: Jane Austen’s Novel Becomes Takarazuka Musical Theater” was published in Persuasions On-Line 36.1 (2015). She translated Katherine O’Donnell’s “Edmund Burke and the Long Seventeenth-Century in Ireland” for Shisō (November issue, 2012).
