Tomas Venclova is a Lithuanian writer, poet and translator. He obtained his PhD in Slavic Languages & LIteratures at Yale Univesity, where he is Professor Emeritus. His academic interest lies mainly in 19th- and 20th-century Russian literature, Polish and Lithuanian literature. His current courses focus on Symbolism, Acmeism, Pasternak, Tsvetaeva, Brodsky, Nineteenth-Century Russian Poetry, Twentieth-Century Russian Poetry and Communism and Literature. His most recent publications are Vilniaus Vardai - Vilnius Personalities (2006) and Magnetic North: Conversations with Tomas Venclova (2017).
