Dr. Wencke Orbán is a qualified translator with in-depth language proficiency in German, English, and Spanish and extensive professional experience in translating texts from various fields – ranging from literature and arts to medicine and economics – as well as in teaching linguistics and translation science in academia. She is a lecturer at the Institute of Translation and Interpreting of Heidelberg University and in-house translator at the University of Mannheim. She studied and received degrees in Translation Studies and earned a doctoral degree in the same field. She teaches courses on translating general and specialized economic texts as well as courses on intercultural studies, literary translation, and terminology management both at BA and MA levels. Her research projects include Teaching Medical Translation (TMT) and Cultural Studies in the Heartland of America – translating the prose of the American artist Gwen Frostic.
